Behind every system, solution, and successful project at Setpoint Solutions is a team of people who bring experience, insight, and a genuine commitment to doing things right. Meet three members of our products team and the perspectives they bring to every project.
Meet Kathi Scott – Built on Trust and Experience (Setpoint Dunedin)
“Hi, I’m Kathi. I’ve been with Setpoint for 18 years, covering Dunedin, Invercargill, and Central Otago.”
Over that time, Kathi has seen products evolve from reliable systems into solutions that are now smarter, sleeker, and more intuitive. But while technology has advanced, her approach has stayed the same.
“Our business is built on good old-fashioned honesty. People come back because trust and respect goes both ways.”
No two days are the same, and that’s what keeps the role interesting, new challenges, new projects, and always something to solve.
For Kathi, it’s the people that make the difference.
“We’ve got a great team, and our customers are awesome. No one is just a number here, everyone matters.”
That culture extends into how the team works together. A highlight of the week is Friday morning tea, a chance to talk through challenges, share ideas, and find solutions together.
“Sometimes the best solutions come over a cuppa and a bit of a laugh.”
Meet John Mitchell – Systems Thinking, Real-World Results (Setpoint Christchurch)
At Setpoint Solutions, John Mitchell brings a system-first mindset to every project — focusing not just on products, but how they perform together.
“Our role isn’t just to supply equipment. It’s to make sure the entire HVAC system works as it should, efficiently, reliably, and for the long term.”
Working with mechanical consultants, contractors, and facilities managers, John helps guide product selection using both experience and advanced tools from partners like Siemens, Condair, and Euro Air.
One standout example is the use of Euro Air fabric ducting at Kings Swim School, where a lightweight, high-performance solution was required for a unique structure.
John is also clear on one common misconception:
“The lowest upfront cost isn’t always the best solution. When you factor in energy efficiency, lifespan, and support, the ‘budget’ option can end up costing more.”
For him, it’s about delivering solutions that perform, not just now, but well into the future.
Meet Paul Spittal– Practical Experience, Strong Relationships (Setpoint Wellington)
“My journey into this industry didn’t start in an office, it started on the tools.”
Before joining Setpoint Solutions, Paul Spittal began as a cabinet maker in Wellington, gaining hands-on experience in construction and how buildings come together.
After seven years in the trade, he spent 14 years at Wasabi Group, building a broad skill set across sales, project management, and technical support.
“That gave me a well-rounded view, not just of products, but how decisions impact the whole project.”
Today, Paul’s approach is grounded in relationships and clear communication.
“Customers want more than just answers, they want someone who listens, understands their needs, and explains why a solution is right for them.”
With over 20 years of experience, he bridges the gap between design and real-world application, helping clients navigate complexity with confidence.
“The reality is, HVAC isn’t one-size-fits-all, but it doesn’t need to be overwhelming either. It’s about getting the right solution for the right application.”
“I’m always happy to connect, it all starts with a conversation.”
