Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our building automation and maintenance services in the FAQs section.
What is a building management system and why is it important?
A building management system (BMS) is designed to integrate technologies and automated systems to optimise the performance and energy efficiency of your facility, supporting it to work smarter not harder. The benefits of designing the right BMS solution include saving money, conserving energy, optimising operational efficiency, and prolonging equipment lifespan, ultimately improving the comfort and operations for the occupants of your facility.
What types of buildings can benefit from a BMS?
Any building with a complex system will benefit from the implementation of a building management system. BMS solutions work particularly well in high people traffic facilities where there are often fluctuations in occupancy, and a need for flexibility and/or automation of equipment. We have worked with universities, councils, laboratories, sporting stadiums, airports, large data centres and facilities of all sizes. We are happy to discuss your needs and find the right solution for your requirements.
Can a BMS be integrated with other building systems?
The short answer is yes. We can fully integrate with most building systems and technologies, including HVAC, lighting, security, fire safety, access control, and energy management systems. Our long history also means we have a wide and in-depth knowledge of many systems and products and will work with you to customise the best solution your needs. The key is automation and the right system to get you the outcome you want.
Can I put the same system in all my similar buildings around New Zealand?
A key benefit to working with us is you get our regional knowledge and expertise as part of the design package while working with a company that delivers national competitiveness. Your buildings may look similar and have the same functions, but differences in regional weather patterns and geography will mean adjustments may be required to ensure everything is working well depending on where the building is located.
What is the aftercare once my system is in place?
From design and installation through to ongoing support we are with you the whole way. We provide training on the operation of your system but more importantly we remain on hand to manage regular reviews, maintenance and reporting from your system to ensure it is working as efficiently as possible.
What if I just need a part or a product replacement– how long will that take?
We stock and support numerous product ranges, this enables us to respond to orders quickly and in most cases the part will be with you within a couple of business days. If you have a problem or specific need then we are happy to talk you through the options that work for you.
